Yves Peeters starts to play drums at the age of 14, gaining his first experiences playing in local rock and funk bands. A few years later, he starts taking interest in jazz and gets private drum lessons from Teun Verbruggen. After secondary school, he enrolls in the Jazz department of the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven, where he is taught by Dré Pallemaerts, Bert Joris, Frank Vaganée and Ron Van Rossum. In his last year he attends the Musikhochschule in Cologne with an Erasmus scholarship, where he gets drum lessons from Keith Copeland. In 2002 he graduates as a Master in music.

During and after his studies, Yves also follows several workshops and private classes in Belgium as well as abroad with drummers Billy Hart, Johnny Vidacovich, Jorge Rossi, John Engels, Joost Van Schaaik and Martijn Vink. In 2005, he takes part in the international ‘Workshop for Jazz and Creative Music' in Banff (Canada), where he is taught by Dave Douglas, Vijay Iyer and Don Byron.

Yves was leader or co-leader of the Walkin' Tiptoe Quartet, Mo' Better Jazz Quintet, Vansina/Peeters Quartet, Yves Peeters Quartet featuring Kris Defoort and Le Petit Cirque.
Currently he is mainly performing with aNoo, Guillaume Vierset Quartet – Harvest Band, Thomas Decock Quartet, UTZ and Yves Peeters Group. With these bands you can watch him play in pubs, jazzclubs, cultural centres and on festival stages in Belgium and abroad.

Next to a passionate musician, Yves is also a dedicated teacher, giving drum and ensemble courses at the ‘Stedelijke Academie van Sint-Niklaas', ‘De Kunstacademie van Knokke-Heist' and the Pop & Jazz summer workshops organised by ‘Jeugd en Muziek Antwerpen'.
