Immersed in music since childhood, Edis began playing piano at the age of 5 before turning to drums at 10. This instrument allowed him to develop his knowledge of many musical styles. During his teenage years, he also discovered the bass, which soon became his true passion.
He first studied with Félix Zurstrassen, who helped him refine his technique and deepen his understanding of the instrument. It was also during his years at the academy that Edis first came into contact with jazz, although groove music has always remained his preferred style. Determined to become a professional musician, he went on to study at the Brussels Conservatory under Bart De Nolf and Christophe Wallemme.
During this period, he developed his first project, Le Ministère, a progressive jazz quintet blending electronic music with sonic experimentation. The group established itself on the Brussels scene, notably at the Brussels Jazz Weekend 2024 with the support of Brussels Jazz Alert. In 2021, Le Ministère joined Volta, a renowned creative hub in Brussels that connects musicians and fosters new projects. The band recorded two EPs there and is still in residence. One of their tracks was even selected for the compilation “Lefto presents Jazz Cats Volume 3” on the Sdban label.
Influenced by the Brussels and international underground scenes, Edis gradually shaped his playing in this direction. Bands such as ECHT!, Stuff., Jean-Paul Groove, Tukan, as well as KUF and Athletic Progression, inspired him to explore new bass sounds through the use of effects pedals.
In December 2023, he took a new step by founding his trio BREAD FOR PIGEONS, a Liège-based band that explores electronic atmospheres, progressive rock, and energetic grooves. The trio quickly made its debut on Liège stages such as La Casa Nicaragua, Kultura, and the Micro Festival 2025, and played its first German show at Festivalkult. The project also won the Sphères Sonores – Jazz/World 2024 competition, earning them the opportunity to perform at the Jazz à Liège 2025 festival.
