Gaëtan Casteels

Gaëtan Casteels, born in Brussels, started playing double bass at the age of 19. The following year, he entered the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the class of Jean-Louis Rassinsfosse. At the same time, he studied classical double bass with Christian Vanderbrorght and Eric Demesmaeker. He also lived in Spain for 5 years, where he studied with Horacio Fumero. Gaëtan also attended the master classes of Dave Holland, Christian McBride and especially Hein Van de Geyn.

We heard it in the jazzbands with Eve Beuvens, Jan De Haas, Daniel Stokart, Arthur Possing, Franco Piccinno… He plays with the Cuban pianist Alejandro Vargas in Bozar and has toured with French singer-songwriters (Mars en Chanson festivals, Rallye de la Chanson Française, etc.). He has played in Switzerland, France, Italy, Andorra, Spain and Germany. Gaëtan Casteels released his first album under his name with his Ozaín quartet ( album "The Missing One(s)) and is currently preparing the second opus of the group.

Gaëtan composes for his projects but has also written music for short films, for poetry performances and theatre.
