The pocket opera “The Whistlewood Ball” by MJO with The Guru Guru

The Whistlewood Ball is an experimental opera that explores the boundaries between jazz, rock, contemporary music and musical theatre.

Muze Jazz Orchestra is keen to innovate. This is how this collaboration with noise rock band The Guru Guru came about. With “The Whistlewood Ball”, they are once again breaking new ground!

Although MJO and The Guru Guru operate in different musical traditions, they share a passion for imaginative stories and theatrical elements, entrusting their artistic wishes to composer and musician Lennert Baerts. The result is a performance that plays with sound, narrative and the imagination of a sleepless night.

The performance is an artistic laboratory in which jazz improvisation, the layered nature of classical music and the energy of rock come together in an innovative creative process. The result is an enchanting mix of intense concert and theatrical storytelling.
