
The 30 years of Maison du Jazz de Liège
The Maison du Jazz de Liège was officially inaugurated on 17 September 1994. To mark its 30th anniversary, the organisers have decided to spread the celebrations throughout the 2024-25 season under the slogan "30 nuances de bleu".
The Maison du Jazz de Liège in figures :
- over 40,000 records and CDs
- around 5,000 78s, acetates and V-Discs
- almost 10,000 tapes and cassettes - 15,000 video documents (documentaries, recordings, films)
- over 10,000 books and magazines (European and North American)
- some 25,000 photos and posters, and hundreds of boxes of documents, objects, etc.
A few surprises planned for the start of 2025 were unveiled: the first sessions of a new ‘Master Clash’ series and a special ‘Valeureux Liégeois’ concert at the Musée de la Boverie in Liège.

Why listen to a ‘big name’ in jazz?
That's the idea behind these ‘Master Clash’ sessions, based on a discussion with a guest musician and the projection of audiovisual archives. In the second part, a live set by the guest linked to the chosen musical personality.

THE ‘VALEUREUX LIEGEOIS’ CONCERT
Four super musicians from Liège (Marc Frankinet, Jacques Pirotton, Benoit Vanderstraeten, Antoine Cirri) playing compositions by Liège jazzmen and inviting the doyen of Liège jazzmen (Robert Jeanne). Plus, on the big screen, the masters of Liège jazz (Jas par, Thomas, Pelzer, Houben...) and a gripping version of ‘Valeureux Liégeois’.
