Three generations of jazz musicians come together for a one-off concert

Saxophonist Matthias Van den Brande (b. 1993) has built an impressive career in recent years, studying in Amsterdam and Philadelphia and receiving a series of awards with his own band. He recently returned to Belgium, where he has already caught the attention of the Brussels Jazz Orchestra.

For this special concert at the Academiezaal, Van den Brande invites two distinctive musical personalities. Argentine guitarist Agus Fulka (b. 2000), based in Amsterdam, moves effortlessly between jazz, flamenco and live electronics, with a strong focus on improvisation and intercultural storytelling. Drummer Dré Pallemaerts (b. 1964), a key figure on the Belgian and international jazz scene, has worked with leading artists including Toots Thielemans, Joe Lovano, Mark Turner, Bert Joris and Yusef Lateef, and has left a lasting mark on several generations of musicians through both his playing and his teaching at conservatoires in Paris and Leuven.

Before and after the concert, and during the interval, the DJs from Jazz Heks Sound System will spin the finest records from their collection at culture café de Fwajee.
