Concert: « The joyous Peace Warriors »

This new quartet was formed around a shared passion for jazz standards.
Inspired by their heroes, Joe Lovano, Charles Lloyd, John Abercrombie, Charlie Haden, Billy Higgins and many others, these Belgian musicians from different generations came together to play their favourite standards.
With passion, the four musicians immersed themselves in the rich musical repertoire of Broadway.
The name of the group, ‘The Joyous Peace Warriors’, is a combination of two names that have special meaning for each member of the group.
On the one hand, Peace Warriors is the title of a piece by another highly influential musician, Ornette Coleman, which exudes freshness and freedom. On the other hand, it comes from ‘Joyous Encounter’, the title of a piece that gives its name to a magnificent album by Joe Lovano.
In addition, ‘The Joyous Peace Warriors’ reflects the four personalities of the band members, who are all in search of inner peace, serenity and music that transcends the ego.
