With her sense of cinematic, warm music, double bassist Lara Rosseel has been a fixture in Belgian jazz for years. Initially, she performed with names like Chris Joris, Naima Joris, and Zap Mama, but since her acclaimed debut album "De Grote Vrouw" in 2020, she has primarily performed with her own quintet and orchestra. In 2023-2024, Lara was the city composer for the City of Ghent.
With the young, highly talented Ghanaian musician Nana Osei-Twum Barima, Lara unites the best of both worlds in intimate Afro-jazz. Nana plays the seperewa—a Ghanaian lute harp—with a beautiful, enchanting sound that is a must-hear. It's a true family instrument, inheriting his musical depth from his great-grandfather and uncle—both renowned musicians. He studied Ghanaian music and dance at the University of Education and is building his career as a harpist, singer, percussionist and dancer from Ghent.
