Signe Emmeluth 'Amoeba' // Ornella Noullet + Egon Wolfson

This autumn, Signe Emmeluth tours the Low Countries. First with Paal Nilssen-Love’s Circus, then under her own banner. Twice, she will stop by at Walter. Emmeluth is a key figure in today’s Scandinavian improvised music scene. Born in Denmark, she now leaves her mark on Berlin’s music as a saxophonist and composer. Together with Karl Bjorå, Christian Balvig, and Ole Mofjell, she forms the Norwegian-Danish quartet Amoeba, a band that has developed an almost anarchic sound. At Südtirol Jazz last July, they performed new work from the album that is being released now. Impressive and striking, full speed ahead – that’s how Dick Hovenga described their set for Written in Music.
“Keep a close eye on this quartet.”
We will, Dick.

Belgian saxophonist Ornella Noulet and drummer Egon Wolfson build with Summer Hour an intimate one-hour dialogue. Bebop, modal, and experimental jazz gently flow together with subtle percussion into a cinematic space full of tension and poetry.
