Jazz in de Fwajee - Lennert Baerts

Anti-Panopticon is the brainchild of saxophonist/composer Lennert Baerts. Baerts, who has already received praise from renowned names such as Joe Lovano and Jakob Bro with various projects such as Profound Observer and Brussels Jazz Orchestra, founded this quartet in 2019. Their first album Channeling The Flood was promptly called “the Belgian jazz record of the year” by De Standaard.

In this ensemble, Baerts combines both his great love for the written score and his passion for improvisation and interaction. In doing so, they strive for constant curiosity, musical layering and complete dedication in the interplay.

Curator Gert-Jan Dreessen, drummer/composer and one of the great jazz talents of his generation, invites fellow musicians from Belgium and the Euregio to Sint-Truiden especially for this concert series. For the occasion, the Fwajee will be transformed into an intimate jazz club and after the concert you can chat with the musicians with a local beer, wine or a non-alcoholic alternative in hand.
