Arooj Aftab is a Pakistani-American composer and singer, blending jazz, traditional music, and contemporary experimentation. Born in Riyadh and raised in Lahore, she draws inspiration from Urdu poetry, architecture, and Pakistan’s lush landscapes before studying at the Berklee College of Music. She gained international acclaim with her 2021 album Vulture Prince, which earned widespread critical praise and made her the first Pakistani artist to win a Grammy, for Best Global Music Performance. Since then, she has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages—from Coachella to the Metropolitan Museum of Art—establishing herself as a singular, subtle, and deeply emotive voice in global music.
