Platform Jazz Ruben Machtelinckx & Nils Økland

For ten years, Ruben Machtelinckx has been following an extraordinary path in Belgian and European improvised music. As a guitarist, but equally as a composer. He has collaborated with leading musicians such as Arve Henriksen, Jakob Bro, Evan Parker and many others.

Duos seem to suit guitarist Ruben Machtelinckx well: an interplay between two individuals. After projects with Arve Henriksen, Thomas Jillings (Linus), Karl Van Deun and Frederik Leroux (Poor Isa), here he will collaborate with Nils Økland.

Nils Økland is an innovative violinist and hardanger fiddle specialist who has been active as a musician and composer since the mid-1980s. Much of his music has been released by leading label ECM.

The duo opts for the purely acoustic. The repertoire consists of compositions and improvisations that are anything but hermetic.

The music synthesises jazz, improvised music, folk and contemporary composition in an original artistic expression.
