This ravishing duo performs unique music, with both contemporary and melancholic timbres.
Mingo Rajandi (double bass)
Estonian Mingo Rajandi boldly explores the intersections between sophisticated composition and improvisation, crossing genre boundaries and experimenting with different art forms. Her work blends jazz with contemporary music and draws inspiration from socially critical texts and poetry, both classical and contemporary.
Berlinde Deman (tuba and serpent)
Berlinde Deman is the regular tuba player in Flat Earth Society Orchestra. She is also very active in many other bands and projects in the world of theatre and classical music: she has played extensively with Dave Douglas, Jef Neve, Spinvis, Dez Mona, Dick van der Harst, Vvolk, MikMáäk, Post Uit Hessdalen,...
After years of fascination with the forerunner of the tuba, she acquires the serpent: a rare 16th century wooden wind instrument in the shape of a snake. Its melancholy and unique sound brought her to artists and groups such as Graindelavoix, Hans Beckers, B.O.X, Razen, Machinefabriek and Mirko Banovic (Arno)...
