New album

Jazz Tour - In collaboration with Les Lundis d'Hortense

New album Igloo Records

After three albums recorded as a trio, Martin Salemi is expanding his ensemble by inviting saxophonist Sylvain Debaisieux. A series of concerts in Belgian jazz clubs and on the Grand-Place in Brussels for the Brussels Jazz Weekend 2022 festival helped shape the group's sound. The evolution continued with the arrival of Lorenzo Di Maio on electric guitar, bringing a new dimension to the sound and a breath of fresh air to the recording of their first album. Melodic, luminous jazz, imbued with humour and poetry, joyfully navigating between introspection and virtuosity. With folk/Americana accents on Lorenzo Di Maio's electric guitar, acoustic tones on Boris Schmidt's double bass, Sylvain Debaisieux's saxophone and Daniel Jonkers's drums, led by Martin Salemi on piano and compositions, all sprinkled with a few more modern touches in the subtle presence of keyboards and analogue synthesizers. On piano, synths and keyboards, Martin Salemi explores new compositions in the modern jazz tradition, from Keith Jarrett to Aaron Parks. He also revisits a number of pieces from his three previous trio albums, which here take on new colours and sounds. The music of his new quintet comes from jazz, but also borrows from chanson, folk and world music. It's full of surprises, with hypnotic grooves, detailed melodies and cinematic atmospheres. Jazz steeped in tradition, yet very much of today!
