Julie Rains : Carte Blanche

After a long and intense collaboration with Sasha Vovk in the Brussels duo JUICY, Julie Rens is taking advantage of a break from the project to explore her own personal musical universe.

"I started writing on my own a few months ago and at first it was very dizzying to plunge into composition, knowing that anything was possible and that I could go in any direction. I’m looking for my own musical uniqueness and that involves a lot of stages. The first is to get away from a relationship of profitability and efficiency. Seeing what emerges when you’ve worked together for so long and so intensely. What is unique to me and how can I offer it ? I also wanted to stop ‘protecting’ listeners from being confused by encounters between styles.

You can hear all his baggage of classical and jazz music meeting a roar of synthesizers on French lyrics that touch on the intimate.

This first ‘carte blanche’ reflects a need to showcase the creative process, which is often overlooked in the music world, and a desire to present stages of work and research.
