The double bass is taking centre stage from 14 to 22 September this year. Five Belgian leaders have issued invitations to guests from home and abroad this autumn. Sal La Rocca has selected the young Belgian guitarist Eliott Knuets, the Nicolas Thys trio and Giuseppe Millaci trio have each chosen a trumpeter – American-Eritrean Hermon Mehari and Takumi Nakayama from Japan, respectively – while Yannick Peeters has picked the American drummer Tom Rainey. Lastly, the festival has given carte blanche to the highly versatile Sam Gerstmans.
