Gaume Jazz : Duo Storyboard (Fr)

Gaume Jazz : Duo Storyboard (Fr)

There are illustrious precedents in the history of piano-guitar duets, such as the jazz association of Bill Evans and Jim Hall, or that of César Camargo Mariano and Hélio Delmiro in the world of Brazilian music. In choosing this formula, Gwen Cahue and Baptiste Bailly fully and brilliantly assume its rigorous requirements: a subtle blend of two musical personalities with undeniably singular backgrounds and intimate complicity in the elaboration of the repertoire, entirely of their own making, go hand in hand here. The result is a remarkable opus.

“Music as a sketch until your imagination develops the image,” declares Baptiste. Through the fluidity of their phrasing and the refinement of their compositions, our duettists invent their own language while sparing the listener's space.

Stimulated by the fullness and uncluttering of their sound and film writing, this duo invites the listener to imagine, veering towards the timeless, allowing a whole world of nuances and resonances to emerge. With this project, which raises them to the highest level, Baptiste and Gwen are simply cultivating one of music's greatest virtues: strong emotions, demanding writing, musical absolutes and improvisational freedom.
