Pianist Amaro Freitas uses his rhythmic playfulness in Y'Y (2024, Psychic Hotline) to express the wonders of the Amazon jungle. Mimicking sounds of the rainforest, Freitas creates an incredibly versatile album that, throughout the songs, takes you along the Solimões and Negro rivers and the heady rainforest. And indeed, his free piano play makes you feel the power of nature that inspired him to create Y'Y (meaning "water" or "river" in the Sateré Mawé dialect).
