Two musical soulmates, that's how singer Gretchen Parlato and guitarist Lionel Loueke would describe each other. Two decades of friendship and mutual inspiration come together in Lean in, their first album as a duo. Parlato's light, smooth jazz voice is an excellent match with the African rhythms in the guitar playing of Loueke, who spent many years as guitarist for jazz legend Herbie Hancock. The result is a fascinating new sound that’s both playful and vulnerable. Through their spontaneous synergy, the duo unfailingly challenge each other and the listener to explore new pathways.
