Saouta Duo

An oud and a soprano saxophone: the two voices intertwine. They speak through their different intonations and colors. The universe of Saouta, the fruit of an imagination nourished by Arabic, Indian and jazz music, is an ode to travel, to the moment, to the passing breath.

Akram ben Romdhane (oud) and Damien Brassart (soprano saxophone) explore the art of improvisation through a repertoire of original compositions. They use improvisation as a key to approaching various musical styles, as a way of researching their musicality as well as an open door to more freedom.

The SAOUTA duo likes to insist on the creative process in progress in which the framework is fixed by the composition and where improvisation makes it possible to explore different musical dimensions thanks to the connection it induces between the musicians. For them, a piece of music is like a living organism, it is not possible to play the same one twice in a row. His mood changes depending on the day but his DNA remains the same.

SAOUTA has found in sound an infinitely repeatable way of playing with the fragility of the moment.
