Lorenzo Di Maio Lorenzo Di Maio presents a classic formula of the trio, to which he adds a string quartet, that result in a combination of immensely rich sounds with nuanced colours and textures. It relies on the groove and inventiveness of Antoine Pierre and the deep, virtuoso playing of Sam Gerstmans with whom he shares a common vision of music that is both lyrical and energetic. Their influences range from the blues to a certain notion of European jazz.
Fabian Fiorini writes the quartet’s arrangements with mastery, instilling a character that is both melodic and unpredictable in equal measure.
Enhanced by the poetic nature of the players, the group unveils a repertoire with contrasting vibes that bridges the gap between the acoustic purity of the strings and the electronic atmosphere of the guitar.
