Bruno Castellucci Stringtet

Bruno Castellucci is one of Belgian jazz main stay. During 35 years of career, he participated in more than sixty recordings and his musical activities has extended beyond Belgian frontiers. Regular drummer of Toots Thielemans since 1974, he performed alongside scores of musicians a.o. Phil Woods, Charlie Mariano, Jaco Pastorius, Philip Catherine, Chet Baker,... if Castellucci presents an impressive curriculum as sideman, he also had the opportunity to prove that he is also able to take the lead. In 89 he made his first album under his name (Bim Bim) very well received by the critic. Now, 1996, he is back with an original project, uniting 2 acoustic quartets, one of cords, the other strictly jazz.

Eight musicians under the direction of Bruno Castellucci for the pleasure of the ears, blending velvetiness and the richness of sounds of a Classical quatuor and an acoustic Jazz quartet. The musical content was specially composed and arranged for this ensemble by Erwin Vann, Paolo Radoni, Arnould Massart, Peter Hertmans and Jean Pierre Catoul. The reunion of these two quartets with an acoustic instrumentation brings nobility to the arrangments and harmonies of the modern Jazz , it reveals a delicat rythmic and the spontaneous creativity of improvitations in this sumptuous sound environement.

Released in November 1996, the new Castellucci Stringtet CD is called "Towards the Light" ( Quetzal 105).
