Inner Peace Band

Erwin Vann is one of those young musicians who progresses constantly and brilliantly. His jazz career is most evocative: he plays regularly with the RTBF and BRTN orchestras, studies with Steve Coleman, Dave Holland, Muhal Richard Abrams, Kenny Wheeler, Julian Priester, Dave Liebman, takes part in numerous festivals in Belgium, France, Holland, Argentina, Canada, Spain, etc., and accompanies famous musicians such as Michel Herr, Toots Thielemans, Kenny Wheeler, Erik Van der Westen, Michel Benita, Marc Ducret, Paolo Fresu, Hein Van de Geyn, Norma Winstone, Aldo Romano.

The "Inner Peace Band" is now showing a change of direction towards Africa: his phrasing - still as velvety - is inspired by ethnic music. Supported by a supple and welded rhythm, the compositions take on a more relaxed look, as if suspended in space...

Aerial, but all the same with his feet well grounded, Erwin Vann has surrounded himself with the brilliant bassist Michel Hatzigeorgiou, the omnipresent Dré Pallemaerts on drums, and the American guitarist Pete Mc Cann, leader of his own group in New York, and also part of groups such as Maria Schneider Big Band, Bobby Watson's Electric Band,... He has played alongside James Moody, Jon Faddis, Pat Labarbera, Adam Nussbaum, Dan Gottlieb, and Ed Thigpen, among others.

This group was active between 1989 and 2005. It then evolved into the quartet Let's Call Ed with Jozef Dumoulin: see Erwin Vann Group.
