Elvin & Stéphane Galland: The Gallands

For the first time, father and son Galland found the time and the ideal opportunity to create and record music together. The result is a blend of two vast, wide and rich musical worlds that merge into a unique sound that mixes Hip-Hop, Jazz, R’n’B, Electro, Pop, Breakbeat and Funk. Their repertoire of originals is nourished by what they like most: Groove, trippy chord progressions, a mix of acoustic and electronic sounds, some blazing, punchy and energetic rhythms, and cinematic atmospheres.

Stéphane Galland has been drumming all his life and toured worldwide with the most daring projects, including the Belgium based trio he cofounded in 1992 called Aka Moon, who is now considered as one of the most influential jazz band in Europe of the last decades. Together, they released more than 25 abums, and collaborate with artists from all horizons such as Oumou Sangare (Mali), Meshell Ndégéocello (USA), Toots Thielemans (Belgium) Doudou Ndiaye Rose (Senegal), Umaylapuram K. Sivaraman (India), Arno (Belgium), Mark Turner (USA), Joe Lovano (USA), Alain Platel (BE), Anne-teresa de Keersmaeker (BE), Zap Mama (BE), Philippe Boesmans (BE), DJ Grazzhoppa (BE) to name only a few. Stéphane played on many Jazz albums, from traditional music to the most avant-garde jazz, from abstract contemporary to groove. He has been drumming for artists like Joe Zawinul Syndicate, Zap Mama, Ozark Henri, Novastar, Axelle Red, and is the drummer with Ibrahim Maalouf, including collaborations with artists such as Marcus Miller, M, Aya, and many others.

Elvin Galland is a keyboard player and producer who studied classical piano, and jazz with Eric Legnini at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
