Guillaume Vierset - Harvest Group
The name of the group is reminiscent of the title of NeilYoung's emblematic album released in the 1970s. It is indeed his strong interest for the music of great song writers as Nick Drake, Neil Yong, Bob Dylan, or Elliot Smith which inspired Guillaume in the writing of this new opus through which he expresses a new side of his music personality.
After the energy and the fiery rhythms of modern Jazz he appreciates so much, Guillaume is revealing here a more intimate writing, a sweet and fragile print of the nostalgia and melancholy proper to the music of those "songwriters".
For the occasion, the young guitarist-composer-arranger surrounded himself with musicians of very high calibre: Yannick Peeters on bass and Yves Peeters on drums ensure a solid rhythm, together with the excellent solist Mathieu Robert on soprano saxophone and the talented Marine Horbaczewski on cello.
"Harvest" submerges us into a music universe where various jazz, pop and folk atmospheres are blended. The music is finely tuned and the instruments are smartly balanced: beside the guitar, the soprano saxophone and the cello offer an original texture and amazing collective improvisations.
