In this album, Mathieu Robert explores the soprano saxophone in all its forms. He presents a diverse project both in the sounds he explores and in the musical styles he embraces. From jazz to world music, including improvisation and much more, Mathieu challenges the standardized use of his instrument.
To enhance the sonic variety, Mathieu doesn’t limit himself to just one soprano saxophone; he uses three different ones on the album. His saxophones are also accompanied by other instruments: a Shruti Box (similar to an accordion) and a collection of singing bowls from various countries around the world.
In «Fifteen Resonances,» you’ll find a total of 15 very different tracks. All the music was recorded live, without any re-recording. This is an intentional choice by Mathieu Robert, who aims to maintain a sense of authenticity in his music.
