Since the beginning of his career, Albert Vila has established himself on the European scene thanks to his love of powerful melodies and well-crafted compositions.
For his new album 'Levity', his first solo guitar album, Albert Vila offers a surprising and eclectic repertoire. The guitarist covers American standards, but also Antonio Carlos Jobim, Nick Drake, The Beatles or Bob Marley. If the repertoire is diversified, the respect of the artists and the coherence of each of the eight tracks develop in an organic way throughout the album.
The global pandemic was the catalyst for this album. "Levity" is a scientific term for a physical force, similar to gravity, but one that pulls us up rather than down. Conceived during the darkest period of the pandemic, this project helped Albert hold on in some ways: he remained inspired despite the uncertainty.
Artistically, Albert is constantly exploring new avenues and seeking an intimate connection between modern and classical aesthetics, the specific and the universal, while prioritizing his narrative and evocative expression with strength and humility.
