The De Groote–Faes Duo brings together two internationally seasoned Belgian musicians whose distinctive voices converge in an intimate dialogue, rooted in the traditions of jazz, classical music and a contemporary electric energy.
Their singularity lies in a distinctive and organic eclecticism, born from the meeting of a classically trained double bassist and a guitarist deeply rooted in contemporary jazz, drawing on a wide musical vocabulary ranging from blues to avant-garde and post-rock, from swing to post-bop.
Anchored in improvisation and tradition, their luminous music unfolds with clarity, lyricism and subtle unpredictability. Both rigorously constructed and emotionally direct, their compositions strike a delicate balance between finesse and intensity.
Their spirit of exploration has led them to collaborate with major figures in contemporary jazz: Dave Douglas appears on Symphony for 2 Little Boys (2017), while Dré Pallemaerts features on Time Unfolding (2026). Each project expands their artistic horizon while preserving their signature: clarity, intimacy and dynamic interaction.
