Since 2014, the De Groote–Faes Duo has established itself as a laboratory of refined ideas and radical subtlety.
Their singularity lies in a distinctive form of eclecticism, born from the encounter between a classical double bass with an international trajectory and a guitar deeply rooted in contemporary jazz, nourished by a broad vocabulary ranging from blues to avant-garde, from swing to post-bop. Their two albums — En Route (2016) and Symphony for 2 Little Boys (2021), featuring Dave Douglas as guest — have been praised in Belgium and internationally for their artistic coherence and freedom of expression.
In 2026, they return with T i m e U n f o l d i n g, a new trio album featuring drummer Dré Pallemaerts.
After a period of artistic maturation spanning several years, this album opens a new chapter where precise writing and free improvisation intertwine with renewed intensity. The music gains depth, tension and narrative clarity.
