‘Thelonious Monk, sculptor of silence’ is an original and exceptional show based on the music of Thelonious Monk, one of the greatest geniuses of jazz. This will be no ordinary concert, but a story told on stage and interspersed with live music by virtuoso and experienced artists, against a backdrop of videos featuring powerful images from Monk's life.

Eric D'Agostino, a strong personality, musician, theatre and film director (La Nef des fous) will share with us the world of Monk, this mute musician who invented a new jazz, harmonically and rhythmically rich and often extravagant, joyful, dynamic and twirling.... The absence of his father; his lifelong love affair with Nellie, his muse, his manager and his lover; the descent into hell when he was forbidden to play, the flops, the recognition and the glory, the retreat into silence, his bipolarity, and his refuge with Pannonica, the baroness of jazzmen, to end his life: it's all there!

Eric D'Agostino tells the story of this extraordinary life, slipping into Monk's shoes with the follies and silences of one of the greatest musicians of the twentieth century, the man who revolutionised jazz and is still regarded today as the father of bebop.
