Columban, Espace de Cultures is a non-profit organisation commissioned by the public utility foundation "Mediations" to carry out a socio-cultural project.

A grouped housing ("Benedi") and medical practices were already present on the land belonging to "Médiations" when the construction of the theatre hall started in 1996.

In 2007, an extension was built: the dining room and kitchen on the ground floor, as well as offices and a bright room, called the Studio, for socio-therapeutic activities (courses, seminars, conferences, etc.) on the first floor.

In 2012, the Columban ASBL became what it is today:

- A place for programming: music, theatre, dance, and the unmissable Kidsundays that take place one Sunday a month!

- A place for creative residencies

- A place to rent

The common point of this combination of activities is the meeting and the exchange.

Each of these activities creates a link, and sometimes these activities even create a link between them. It is not unusual for an exchange to take place during a meal break between artists in residence and therapists (shiatsu, yoga, mindfulness, etc.) who rent the studio upstairs.

And exchanges take place systematically during the performances: between the artists and the public, between parents and their children, between friends, with family...

We make it a point of honour to create the conditions that allow this exchange to take place, by offering a snack after shows for young audiences, for example, or by offering our tenants the opportunity to attend shows in our programme at a reduced rate.

The welcome is definitely Columban's strong point: a warm welcome from the Columban team in a green and quiet setting only 20 minutes from Brussels.
