Collectif du Lion

The Collectif du Lion sees itself as a company of artists (some have been present since the very beginning!). They all come from different fields and work together on creations, multidisciplinary projects, musical groups... around a shared aesthetic.

The creative framework of the Collectif du Lion is nourished from the start by various traditions, influences and practices (jazz, contemporary music, theatre, song, literature...). We have 'filtered' all of this to extract our essence, our living memory, like the craftsman in the making and 're-making', to discover our own identity, a personal, recognisable discourse, mixing rigour and poetry, joy and nostalgia, emotion and legibility.

From the very first musical groups at the origin of the Collectif du Lion, the desire has always been the same: a real group, a sound, a deep song (el duende), beyond and below genres. The desire for chivalrous journeys, for true emotions conveyed by primitive music, without a concern for modernity. The search for the primary vibration, the organicity of the melody, the rhythm, the movement of the singing body, of the moving body, of the alert, intelligent, enjoying listener. Today, the same aspirations run through everything you will discover on this site; in the music, the pedagogy, the collaborations, the interdisciplinary projects...doing and redoing like a craftsman!
