Augusto Pirodda

Born in Cagliari, Italy, the 5th December 1971, Augusto Pirodda begins playing piano at the age of 6.
Until 1998 he lives in Sardinia where he makes many musical experiences of different kind (Pop, Rock, Reggae, Jazz, Folk, Rhythm & Blues, Contemporary music) by performing all around the Island in clubs and villages, meanwhile he studies Experimental Composition in the Conservatorium of Cagliari, and follow several courses and masterclasses held by musicians like John Taylor, Dave Liebman, Paolo Fresu, Ralph Towner, Franco D'Andrea, Roberto Cipelli, Ettore Fioravanti, Gianluigi Trovesi, Furio di Castri and others.

In 1998 he moves to Holland to study in the Koninkljik Conservatorium (Den Haag), where in four years he get Bachelor and Master degree studying with Rob van Kreeveld, Frans Elsen, Rob van Bavel and Bert van Den Brink.

In 2002 he goes back to Italy where he works with a vocal trio from Sardinia called "Balentes"; for this band he composes and write arrangements for two recordings , "Balentes"(2002) and "..Cantano.." (2004). In September 2002 he brings in the festival "Jazz a Nuoro" a duo project with the Slovakian piano player Michal Vanoucek and the recording of the concert comes out for the Italian label Splas(H) Records in a Cd called "To be or not to bop?/Live in Nuoro" (2003).

In 2005 he moves back to Holland and now He lives in Brussel.
In all these years he performed in Holland, Belgium, France, Scotland, Spain, Italy,Germany, Montenegro, Greece, with several musicians, among them Mark Murphy, Eric Vloeimans, Ben Slujis, Jean Jacques Avenel, Simon Goubert, Manolo Cabras, Marek Patrman, Jeroen Van Herzeele, Eric Thielemans, Alexandra Grimal, Antonio Pisano, Joao Lobo, Lynn Cassiers,Nicolas Ankodinoff, Eric Vermeulen and others.

In 2006 he meets the Dutch dancer, actress, performer Neel De Jong. Together with her he perform in Edinburgh for the "Fringe Festival" in august 2006, 2007,2008 and 2009, in Montenegro in October 2006 and in Paris in September 2007 for the "International dance Show Case", in Berlin in June 2008 in the Atelier Zwei Stunden Voraus, bringing a duo show, mostly improvised, thought and lead by Neel de Jong called "Inner Landscapes"in 2006, "Moving landscapes" in 2007, "Driven" in 2008, and F.L.O.W. in 2009.

In september 2007 he makes his first piano solo record called "Moving".

In April 2009 he makes a trio recording session with Gary Peacock and Paul Motian.
