Pascale Elia

Born in Belgium from both musician parents, Pascale began singing at age six. Music, which she learned at the local music academy in Liège (Belgium), quickly turned into a genuine passion. She made her first big steps on the stage at age 15 with the Big Band de Liège, singing the music of Duke Ellington and Count Basie. She also performed weekly at the well known live stages in her home town. Shortly after she started singing her own material, worked as a session vocalist and appeared on several TV shows in Belgium. She fine-tuned her vocal technique with classical Bulgarian soloist Mikhail Pouliev and trained her ear listening to the great jazz masters. She garnered momentum in her native country with her trio performing warm, original compositions and standards with a hint of “saudade” in clubs, festivals and concert places in Belgium, Luxemburg, The Netherlands and Germany. As well as for Jazz music Pascale developed a deep passion - an unconditional love - for Brazilian music which stole her heart at age 16 when she discovered the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Ivan Lins, Joao Bosco, Baden Powell, Tania Maria and when she heard the vocals of Elis Regina for the first time. That’s when Pascale sought Brazilian vocalist/percussionist Marcia Maria to become her teacher.

Undeniably Pascale is a jazz vocalist but it is also to be noted that her influences travel the music highway across latin genres, French, pop/rock, world and contemporary styles - forming a unique touch and a diversified pallet of sounds. On the path of growing inside and out, Pascale also found an outlet writing her own lyrics.

In 2005 Pascale Elia relocated from Belgium to the USA - residing in Los Angeles and the Las Vegas area. In Los Angeles: performing/recording with jazz musician/composer/arranger Otmaro Ruiz (Diane Reeves, Frank Gambale, Simon Phillips...) and with bassist Carlitos Del Puerto (Danilo Perez, Stevie Wonder, Chick Corea...), performing and recording with Jimmy Keegan (Spocks Beard, Santana,...) and composer, singer, lyricist Steve Bonino. In Las Vegas: performing with acclaimed headliner Clint Holmes, performing and recording with jazz pianist Uli Geissendoerfer (Uli Geissendoerfer COLORS Quintet), as well as with her own jazz quartet and project “A Night in Brazil” at the well known Dispensary Jazz Club the Smith Center of Arts, Tuscany Suites, El Cortez, Mandarin Oriental, The Artifice, the Bootlegger, the Bellagio. In NYC: she appears at Birdland as a Cast Party guest with pianist/arranger Billy Stritch (Tony Bennett, Lisa Minelli). In Japan 2013, 2014, 2015: she is a headliner at Repos (Kyoto), New-York Jazz Club (Park Hyatt, Tokyo) with Italian pianist, composer and arranger Tony Pancella.

Since mid 2017, Pascale has been residing in her native country where she formed the "HOMIN'IN quartet" and "JABRAZZ", presenting a colorful repertoire composed of revisited jazz standards, originals and Brazilian music pieces. She continues to perform in Europe and the US with pianist Uli Geissendoerfer and his quintet COLORS.

Her last album release “And Still We Dream”  features her partner from Tokyo Tony Pancella (Larry Willis, Hellen Merryl, Miles Griffith).
