Muriel d'Ailleurs
- Instruments : Writing, composition, arrangements, Vocals, Acoustic guitar
- Date of birth : 21/03/1996 - Namur
A singer and guitarist from Namur with French and Hungarian roots, Muriel was born into a family of musicians. She grew up listening to traditional Irish music, Yiddish music, gypsy jazz, and Romani music. She began performing at the age of 12, studying voice, guitar, and harmony at the Marchienne-au-Pont Academy and later at the Jazz Studio in Antwerp; she also studied in the improvised music and oral tradition department at the Liège Conservatory. But as a firm believer in the school of life, her musical education came primarily through oral transmission, shaped by the people she met along the way.
Driven by a passion for swing and jazz, Muriel d’Ailleurs formed her own swing band and has collaborated extensively. Notably, she has performed as a singer with the Hermann Little Big Band, as well as with violinist Léo Ullmann and the musicians of Roby Lakatos, who introduced her to Gypsy music.
In 2019, she participated in season 8 of the TV show “The Voice Belgique” and subsequently joined the group Super Ska, who featured her on their album “Super Nova” and took her on their 2021 tour. At the same time, she self-produced her EP and solo show “Tranquille, peinard,” which she performs on stage and in her tiny traveling cabaret, the “Chou Guinguette.”
Throughout her career, the young artist has composed and written her own original works, which blend all her musical influences. In them, she cultivates a timeless world filled with surprises and poetry. She brought this repertoire to life with the support of the Namur Cultural Center in February 2025.
Now 30 years old, the artist has performed over 600 times in Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Burkina Faso, and Serbia. She performs her own repertoire of French-language songs and collaborates with the international jazz community.
In September 2026, she will release her debut album “Chic & pas cher” in collaboration with the Liège-based label “homerecords.” Bringing together some fifteen musicians around her songs, the album and its singles will soon be available in physical format and online. In stark contrast to AI-generated electronic music, Muriel embodies a vibrant and authentic sound that navigates between sensitivity and a festive atmosphere.
