Bert Candries is one of the finest Belgian bass & guitar players. His widely and well appreciated multicultural experience makes him an all-round and unique musician.

Born in Anderlecht (Brussels) on 6th April 1961.
At the age of eight he started studying classical guitar at the Anderlecht Academy of Music and soon after he concentrated on studying electric, acoustic & (especially) bass guitar.

In 1983 he started working as a professional musician. He played with some famous artists s.a. : Jean Bosco Safari, Roland Van Campenhout, Polizei, B.J.Scott, BRT-Jazzorkest, LSP-Band, Plastic Bertrand, Demis Roussos, Francis Goya, Ricky Lawson, François Glorieux , Machitùn de Chile,....played in several musicals, theaters, The Herman Theirlinck Actor's Studio and went on tour in Africa, Europe, South America.

Since 1988 he has been working on a regular basis with the Flemish singer Johan Verminnen, not only as a musician, but also as a composer, arranger and producer.

As a highly demanded session musician he recorded with Soulsister, The Radio's, Lou De Pryck, Viktor Lazlo, Raymond Van Het Groenewoud, Clouseau, Brazil Tropical,etc...

In 1994 he started his own recording studio "Bert's Studio" where he has arranged music for television shows, documentaries. He has composed, arranged & produced for many Flemish artists s.a. : Johan Verminnen, (see also www.johanverminnen.be ) Bart Vandenbossche, Connie Neefs, Bart Kaell, Margriet Hermans, Yasmine, Samson & Gert, Dana Winner...

He worked as a bassplayer in a lot of musical tv-shows ( "De Muziekkwis", "Het Swingpaleis", "Het Gevoel Van"...) He created his own record label "Etna Records", specialized in world and ethnic music. Field recordings were done in Togo , Ivory Coast as well as studio recordings. Releases : Cécile Kayirebwa, Massamba-Uwinfula (Rwanda), Juan Carreras (Paraguay), Dakar Electric (Senegal) Rony Verbiest (Belgium).

Nowadays he's working on 2 major solo projects together with 2 CD releases and touring with his own band.
