Bart Van Caenegem

Born in Gent in 1975 in a musical family, he got his first piano lessons with his father when he was 6 years old. In 1993 he was 1st laureate of the musical competition "Pro Civitate". In 1999 he brilliantly achieved his musical studies at the Lemmens Conservatory in Leuven (Belgium), both in the classical and jazz fields, respectively with Jan Vermeulen, known for his concerts & recordings on periodic instruments, and with the Dutch Jazz pianist Ron Van Rossum. His skills in the classical and the jazz-domain, made of him a much demanded (solo-) pianist with a variety of orchestras and choirs such as the Flemish Radio Orchestra, the Flemish Radio Choir, and The Brussels Jazz Orchestra with whom he served soloists as Kenny Werner, Bert Joris, Toots Thielemans on tours in the States and Europe.

He performed with many soloists such as Frank Vaganee, Dre Pallemaerts, Chris Joris, Kurt Van Herck, and with bands as Free Breathing Orchestra and the Bruno Vansina quartet.

He also presents his own trio and the High Voltage Sextet and was the last six years mainly on stage (nearly 900 concerts!) with the Frivole Framboos, a humorous musical duo which is very active in Belgium and France.

He is member of a duo with vibraphonist Bart Quartier.
