Vivi Mardens

Drummer Vivi Mardens has been active for several decades on the Belgian jazz scene, playing with bands in styles ranging from old style to modern jazz.

He accompanied numerous European and American soloists and played with some of the most well-known Belgian jazz musicians, such as Jacques Pelzer, Jean-Pierre Gebler, Milou Struvay, Philip Catherine, Benoît Quersin, Richard Rousselet, etc....

He appears on the legendary LP "Jazz in Little Belgium" (1958) with a.o. Jean-Pierre Gebler (bar. sax), Milou Struvay (tp) and Joel van Drogenbroek (piano).

He played with the band of composer/arranger Léo Souris (LP with US singer Helen Merrill, recorded live in 1960 at the Comblain-la-Tour festival).

He also played with more mainstream bands such as the Victoria Jazz Band, with a.o. Herman Sandy (tp).
