Jara

The name is Jara (dʒara), with the “J” of Jazz.
Jara is a pianist-singer whose mission is to make jazz accessible and popular. She has a setlist of American jazz standards, as well as the Dutch and French translations she made of these songs.

Her journey
Jara's artistic journey began with studies in cabaret at Studio Herman Teirlinck, where she worked with well-known actors such as Manou Kersting and Jan Decleir. Her strong stage presence is now a hallmark of her performances.
The transition to jazz
After various experiences, from theater and teaching drama classes at the Conservatory in Bruges to existentialism and world travel, Jara found her way to jazz. Under the guidance of prominent artists such as pianist/composer Bas Bulteel and bassist Joshua Dellaert, her musical calling became clear.
First steps
Last year she toured Flanders, Belgium, performing in well-known jazz pubs and clubs. Together with double bassist Bart De Nolf, drummer Toni Vitacolonna and Raymond van het Groenewoud, she recorded her first EP, the first songs of which have already been released and well received on Radio 1, Radio 2, The Rat Pack and on various local radios.
Inspiration
Jara draws her inspiration mainly from the rich heritage of jazz standards. She brings classics to life by giving them a surprisingly personal and playful touch. She knows how to convey the magic of jazz and invites everyone to surrender to it.
Collaboration
Jara collaborates with internationally renowned producer Patrick Hamilton of The Globe Recording Studios for her EPs of jazz standards in Dutch and French.
