Jara

Jara

Jara (dʒara) is a pianist-singer whose mission is to make jazz accessible. She brings jazz classics to life by giving them a surprisingly personal and playful touch.                                                                                                                                     Journey
Her artistic journey began with drama, dance, and music classes, followed by studies in cabaret at Studio Herman Teirlinck in Antwerp. Her strong stage presence is now a hallmark of her performances. Moving from theater and teaching drama at the Conservatory in Bruges to existentialism and traveling the world, Jara found her way to jazz.       Going jazz
Her passion for jazz was sparked under the guidance of pianist Bas Bulteel and bassist Joshua Dellaert. Their mentorship has influenced her deeply and brought her musical calling to fruition.                                                                 First steps
In 2022 and 2023, she crisscrossed Flanders, Belgium, performing in jazz cafés and clubs. She then recorded two EPs with double bassist Bart De Nolf, drummer Toni Vitacolonna, and singer Raymond van het Groenewoud, that were well received on Radio 1, Radio 2, The Rat Pack and local radios.                                                                                                         Collaboration
Jara collaborated with internationally renowned producer Patrick Hamilton of The Globe Recording Studios for her EPs in Dutch and French, that were released around Valentine's Day 2024 and 2025.                                                              9 + 1 = 10
Currently she is devoting herself to her new album, 9 + 1 = 10, with the same playfulness and passion that characterizes her music, releasing the singles one by one. This time, in addition to vocals and piano, she takes care of all the extra instrumentation and the production of the album.
