Axel DUMONT studied at the Brussels Conservatory with Bart Denolf and Peter Hertmans. He also learned the bass from Michel Hatzigeorgiou and at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

He founded "Trois 7 à cinq" and collaborated with groups such as B-side, Savoy Quartet, Michel Mainil Quartet, Stu Cats, Life is Five, Septet Bençà, Mistery Jazz Quartet, Bebey Ouedraogo, … and deeply involved in the creation of the famous KAAI project in Brussels early nineties.

He occasionally plays with great belgium jazzmusicians : Paolo Radoni, Peter Hertmans, Jan De Haas, Bruno Castellucci, Erik Vermeulen, Michel Herr, Charles Loos, Francis Perez, Michel Mainil, Paolo Loveri to name a few.

Axel was playing bass and co-composing for the string quartet "Le Bataclan", which recorded a CD in 1999.

From 2000, he led the septet "@ 70's", which was revisiting the great pieces of the jazz-rock era. Line up : Fred Delplancq (sax), Pierre Bernard (fl), Jean-Michel Veneziano (gtr), John Mahy (kyb), Michel Seba (perc), Bilou Doneux (dms). The band released a CD "A TRIBUTE TO THE JAZZ OF THE SEVENTIES".

In the meanwhile, he co-founded the famous ATHANOR JAZZ CLUB (close to the Gran' Place in Brussels) and learned to improve in sound engineering.

In 2008, Axel presents a Nu-Jazz Downtempo project under the name "MISTER DUMONT". A first CD "CURRENTS" is released including horns Jean-Paul Estievenart (tpt) and Laurent Doumont (sax). Some tracks have been released on major compils as EMI France "100 Hits Electro-Lounge".

In 2011, Axel released the Electro, Nu Jazz CD "KITCHEN DIARIES" with a.o. : Jean-Paul Estiévenart (tpt), Charles Loos (p), Francis Perez (gtr), Pat Dorcean (add dms), Kool Koor (voc), Fabrice Alleman (sax), Kiù (voc), Renoar Hadri (bs) … The CD is released under Adasong Publishing and distributed under several licences.

In 2014 he composed and produced a Slam CD "HOLLA" for the multi-talented New Yorker artist Chuck "Kool Koor" Hargrove.

Axel was awarded "prix découvertes 2016" by KR-Home Studio with the GIANAX project.

Late 2017, Axel presents the third CD of MISTER DUMONT : "UNITY, DIVERSITY" more opened to the World Music, Modern Jazz, Funk and Hip-Hop ; with a.o. : DJ F.abot (scratches), Aslihan Kyle (vocals), Chuck "Kool Koor" Hargrove (slam), Paolo Loveri el, ac guitars, Greg Lox (rap), Michel Mainil (sop. saxophone and clarinet), Alix Pilot (drums), Maxime Rosenberg the "M&M's" (vocal arrangements), Boris Tchango (African percussions), Mariana Tootsie the "M&M's" (vocal arrangements), Matthieu Van (vintage keyboards).
