Nabou Claerhout

Nabou Claerhout (°1993, Antwerp) is a Belgian trombonist, composer, arranger and educator.
Nabou finished her bachelor at Codarts (Rotterdam). Later she continued her studies at The Royal Academy of Music (London) and again Codarts for her masters.<^> From a very young age Nabou had the chance to work and play with (inter)national musicians such as Bert Joris, John Ruocco, Dave Holland, Dave Douglas, Evan Parker, Martin Fondsen, Jules Buckley, Jeroen van Herzeele, Ilja Reijngoud, Bart van Lier, Andy Hunter, Bert Boeren, Akua Naru and many more.

She also participated in many ensembles like the Ghent Youth Jazz Orchestra, National Youth Jazz Orchestra (Winner of ‘De Zilveren Notenkraker 2016'), Metropole Academy, Jong Metropole & Not So Bigband.

In 2014 Nabou played for the first time at the North Sea Jazz Festival, this was followed by concerts at Bimhuis, De Roma, LantarenVenster, London Jazz Festival, Brussels Jazz Weekend, Luisterplein (Gentse Feesten), Gent Jazz Festival, Dranouter, Gateshead International Jazz Festival, as well as tours in the UK and Japan with some big bands.

Later in 2016 she started her own project N∆BOU. This four-pieced band is a collection of musicians she played with over several years. They play compositions all written by Nabou Claerhout. This is a project where Nabou Claerhout shares all her inspiration and love for music via the compositions and the chemistry you see happening between the musicians live on stage. They recently finished their second tour with a concert at the North Sea Jazz Festival.
Currently Nabou plays with various other bands and orchestras such as Pompelomina, AM.OK, Tadpole Evolution and Azbeul.
