Tom McGuire

Born in 1950 in The Bronx, Tom is the leader of "The New Yorkers" jazz band. He and his top musicians delight an audience through The Great American Songbook and world jazz music.

Tom has lived and worked in Italy, France, the U.K. and the Netherlands. His wife is from Mechelen; they reside in Brussels. People often ask Tom why did he move to Belgium? His answer: he moved to Belgium for love. What's more, years ago, Tom became a Belgian citizen.

Tom has been singing all his life. In 1967, he formed a rock group (Jason Exit) with four high school friends. Tom sang and played guitar. The band performed successfully in New York for seven years until university graduation. Tom then began his international career in advertising, which evolved into global media in the multinational arena. During the last decade of his business career, Tom was an independent consultant in corporate communications.

When Tom completed his international business career, he made an easy but important decision. Yes, he decided to make a lot more room for singing. And so, since more than 10 years, Tom has been pursuing intense voice studies, mostly in Belgium, but also at The Juilliard School in New York, resulting in full-time singing. A few years ago, Tom sang in the chorus of the Brussels Operette Theater, which is the Flemish-speaking opera company performing at the Kaaitheater in Brussels and at the Schouwburg in Leuven.

In 2017, Tom began singing jazz in piano bars and clubs with his own band and with other jazz bands. He has been performing in Brussels, Bordeaux and New York. In 2018, Tom was on national television in Belgium in The Voice Senior. In addition, he entertains at private events. Tom also sings in several languages. What's more, he continues to study voice privately.
