Thomas Decock was born in Oostende, where he got his first music lessons at age 13 at the local music academy. After a few years of playing classical guitar he made the switch to electric guitar. Very soon he came in contact with jazz, so he decided to continue his studies in secundary school in de Kunsthumaniora Antwerpen, where he was taught by Guy Vaerendonck and Bart Defoort. After graduating from secundary school he started his studies at the Lemmensinstitute, where his teachers were Frank Vaganée, Nicolas Thys, Bart Van Caeneghem, Peter Hertmans and Ron Van Rossum. With this band he played multiple concerts in the Belgian jazzvenues (The Music Village, Hot Club De Gand, Jazzzolder…), as well as on festivals like Jazz in't Park, Theater aan Zee and Jazz @ Home.

In 2011 Thomas founded HOAX, a new quintet wherein he presents new arrangements of his compositions. This band has been actively playing on the belgian jazzscene and is planning to hit the studio in 2013.

On some occasions, Thomas leads his own trio. With this band the focus lies mainly on blowing a fresh wind through well- and lesser known jazzstandards.

since 2011 Thomas is a member of the Brussels Youth Jazz Orchestra, a bigband under the supervision of ‘jeugd en muziek' and the Brussels Jazz Orchestra. The first concert was played under the direction of Michel Herr in the studio 1 in the Flagey building in Brussels.

Thomas is also a sideman for PHD group, this is a quintet with 2 electric guitars under the leadership of Matthias De Waele that plays modern arrangements of old sacral music. PHD group is touring in Belgium in april and may 2013.

Next to fixed bands Thomas also works a lot as a freelance musician. In this setting he had the chance to play with a lot of different musicians such as Jos Machtel, Ewout Pierreux, Tom Van Dyck, Tom Callens, Matthias De Waele, Yves Peeters, Bart Defoort, Toni Vitacolonna, Lander Gyselinck, Peter Delannoye, Steven Delannoye, Carlo Nardozza, Jean Paul Estièvenart,…
