100th anniversary of the birth of Miles Davis
This 23 September 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of saxophonist John Coltrane.
Born on 23 September 1926 in North Carolina and who died in 1967 at the age of just 40, the American saxophonist profoundly revolutionised the conventions of jazz.
The famous saxophonist performed once in Belgium: on 1 August 1965, at the Comblain-la-Tour International Jazz Festival in the province of Liège, with his quartet comprising McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison and Elvin Jones.
Celebrations to mark this anniversary will take place across Belgium throughout the rest of the year, featuring a series of varied events.
