50 years since the death of one of the world's greatest guitarists: René Thomas
Born in Liège on 25 February 1927, René THOMAS was one of the greatest modern jazz guitarists of the 1960s. His guitar technique combined with the power of inspiration and improvisation in his music made him one of the best.
THOMAS was highly regarded by the best American jazz musicians, and quickly became the ‘musician's musician’.
He played with the greatest - Sonny ROLLINS, Stan GETZ, Miles DAVIS, Jackie Mc LEAN, Chet BAKER - and influenced a whole generation of musicians such as Larry CORYELL, John McLAUGHLIN and Philip CATHERINE.
