Jazz à Stavelot
- Venue : Abbaye de Stavelot
- Address : Stavelot, Belgique
- Organizing structure : Centre culturel de Stavelot - Trois-Ponts
November 8 & 9 : 25th Stavelot Jazz
Friday, November 8 at 8 PM: Lakota (b)
{Lorcan Fahy: violin - mandolin - composition | Teo Crommen: guitar | Lucas Deru: double bass | Antoine Dawans: trumpet | Antoine Rotthier: drums | Thierry Crommen: harmonica}
Six musicians united by strong bonds of friendship or blood, each carrying multiple influences. Their jazz incorporates elements of chamber music, groove, and folk, which they freely adapt without ever denying their roots. You must hear and discover what the violin, mandolin, double bass, guitar, drums, trumpet, bugle, and harmonica have to say together: it’s both profound and festive, like an acoustic pow-wow...
Saturday, November 9 at 8 PM: JAZMYN
{Jasmine Ouattara: vocals | Florian Decembry: guitar | Charline Flammang: bass | Pierre Ferrand: drums | Lenny Steigerwald: keyboards}
The Queen of jazzy harmonies! Brussels artist JAZMYN offers a one-way ticket to her striking universe, a blend of Jazz, Soul, Funk, and RnB that will make you cry, laugh, and dance all at once. Accompanied by her musicians, this singer with a smooth yet slightly raspy voice delivers a unique performance, showcasing her love for the stage and unmatched musical technique. Expect nostalgia, authenticity, and intimacy, all sprinkled with a good dose of carefree groove. JAZMYN openly shares her joys, sorrows, and doubts in a frank and honest manner, without filters or artifice.
Followed by Waste Ground Project
{Paul Prignot: electric and acoustic guitars | Marie-Sophie Talbot: keyboards, piano | Philippe Laloy: saxophones, flutes | Frédéric (Frouch) Dailly: bass | Didier Fontaine: drums, percussion}
The Cats are Black! On stage, Waste Ground Project invites you to travel between the funky groove of “Smells Like Weed,” the heartfelt blues of “Don’t Call Back,” the jazz-rock fusion of “Flip Lop,” and the more lyrical flights of “After the Rain” and “Room Service.” Founded in 2016 by Paul Prignot with “multifaceted” musicians, the Waste Ground Project is built on the idea that nature reclaims its rights in the neglected parts of the city. Transposed into music, this wasteland allows for all musical audacity and leaves ample room for imagination and creativity. A Jazz Fusion Funk concert featuring only original compositions from a remarkable quintet of musicians from the Belgian jazz scene.
