Jazzathome: Solear

Solear is a guitar trio comprising Philip Brodzinski and Jonas Van Os on guitar and Rik Baeyens on drums. Together, they blend classical music and jazz, resulting in a fresh, intimate sound that brings together different musical worlds. Their repertoire ranges from Latin American, Spanish and Eastern European music by composers such as Manuel de Falla, Astor Piazzolla, Enrique Granados and Dušan Bogdanović, to modern jazz and bossa nova. So expect Argentine tango, Spanish dances, jazz standards, original compositions… and more!

They also regularly surprise the audience with their own compositions. By combining written pieces with improvised jazz, every Solear performance is unique. The combination of two classical guitars and drums creates a rhythmic yet refined sound that comes into its own perfectly in both dance pieces and melodic works. Their mission? To bring classical music and jazz closer together and make them accessible to a wider audience. They achieve this by carefully selecting their repertoire and performing at unique venues.

The band members met at the Antwerp Conservatoire and have since performed at venues such as De Singel, the KMSKA, the Ghent Festivities, Dinant Jazz, cc corso, cc Houthalen and the University of Antwerp.
