Gert-Jan Dreessen Quartet – Angle of Incidence

The Gert-Jan Dreessen Quartet brings together four distinctive voices from the European jazz scene. For this project, drummer and composer Gert-Jan Dreessen has teamed up with Jean-Paul Estiévenart, Bram De Looze, and Cyrille Obermüller: musicians with a strong individual style, but above all with an exceptional sense of interaction.

With his debut album *Angle of Incidence*, Dreessen presents his compositional voice in a clear and personal way. His music combines strong melodic lines, rhythmic layering, and open structures that leave room for risk, nuance, and collective interplay.

Live, the quartet builds upon the album material with open forms, refined dynamics, and longer improvisations. The drums do not take center stage as a virtuoso focal point, but rather guide the music through timing, texture, and subtle shifts in energy.

*Angle of Incidence* was very well received internationally, with airplay in Europe, the United States, Japan, and South America. The album was selected by *Focus Knack* as one of the Top 10 Jazz Albums of 2025 and was awarded the “Révélation 2026” label by *Jazz Magazine* in France.”
