What is it about these pieces that makes them so simple? Is it perhaps the effect, on first listen, of the immediacy of the melodies or the obvious harmonies? Listening more closely, however, one discovers the richness of the compositions and arrangements. Isn't it said that it's when we forget something that we realise how indispensable it is? Guitarist Benjamin Sauzereau has therefore brought together, for the second time (after the first album 16), his two keyboardist friends Hendrik Lasure and Dorian Dumont to offer us Notice. Easy Pieces (the name of this trio) delivers music that finds its way between improvised (yet highly structured) jazz, a certain type of 19th-century chamber music, and ambient electro pop songwriting. Benjamin Sauzereau's creative output seems inexhaustible (Les chroniques de l'Inutile, Philémon, Fur, etc.), as does his appetite for discovery and travel. The trio takes us from Budapest to Chinatown, following their own little path, sometimes strewn with obstacles and sometimes full of surprises. Each track has its own colour, and the work on the sound of the pianos, sometimes crystalline, sometimes woody, blends wonderfully with the ever-changing sound of the guitar strings. Electro and acoustic music complement each other perfectly, with each musician drawing on their personal experiences (Schntzl, ECHT!, APHEXionS and others). Notice offers a unique vision of beauty and emotion. And it's a gem. – Jacques Provost
