Jazz Club Leuven - Hot Club Louvain brings Scott Hamilton, the world-famous tenor saxophonist, along with Rob Van Bavel, Hans Mantel, and Frits Landesbergen, to our Jazz Club in Leuven, for this occasion at LUCA - School of Arts (Campus Lemmens Leuven), on Friday, October 17, 2025. Called the Messiah of the Mainstream by the New York jazz label Who's Who, tenor saxophonist Scott Hamilton captivates his audience with his soft and melodic interpretations. Scott Hamilton discovered his passion for jazz in his early childhood while browsing through his father's extensive record collection. Along the way, he experimented with various instruments and discovered the tenor saxophone at the age of 16—and it was love at first sight. His musical journey began in the 1970s: in contrast to the popular jazz fusion of the time, he distinguished himself with his traditional swing approach, inspired by musicians like Ben Webster and Zoot Sims. He soon found himself sharing the stage with jazz greats like Benny Goodman and Bucky Pizzarelli. Hamilton has released over 35 albums under the Concord label and has established himself as one of the finest saxophonists in mainstream jazz. Jazz musician Chris Hopkins calls Hamilton an "absolutely top-notch artist" whose music is of "unparalleled beauty." The septuagenarian, who now lives beneath the soft Tuscan light, is coming to Leuven to delight his audience with soft, nostalgic notes and New York swing from the 1940s and 1950s.
